A few of you left comments but couldn't get them to post. I had to go into my dashboard to "approve" them before they would post. So, after some research, I've found that I can invite folks and those that want to participate can, but only up to 100 people. But, you must have a google account or create one (it's free). Kindly request someone try to reply or post to see if this works.
I thought today was a great workout. I felt like we worked really hard in spin class today. You guys are such a fun bunch! I've realized how much I rely on my heart rate monitor (now that I don't have it due to battery replacement). It tells me the same thing every day but I rely on it to confirm to myself that I have "trained".
I ate fairly well today. I had a protein/fruit shake for breakfast, a handful of almonds & a Monster coffee after spin class (impulse while doing the BX/Post Office rounds), another protein/fruit shake for lunch, small amt of chocolate milk mid afternoon, and a chicken salad w/ balsalmic vinegar, using the leftover chicken from last night. The family ate it too, I just added some canned soup for the kids. My husband just now gave me a bite of baklavah and snickered, "now you have to put it down in your blog"! He's evil!
I have to say, now that I've committed to logging everything to the world, it makes me think twice before I eat something. This afternoon, I decided against that Starbucks sugar-free skinny latte when Aya was at gymnastics because I didn't want to have to log it!
So, give it a try and log your daily intake, your training and other fitness activities and whatever else you did that was good for you today. Be as specific or general as you want.....You could say, "I ate too much cookie dough ice cream", or you could say, "I ate the whole darn carton". You're call. The point is, you know you overdid it, you can admit it, and know you just need get back on the right track. But, when you know the rest of us are also dodging the same daily temptations, you can hopefully laugh at yourself (and us) in the process. Whatever you think is going to keep you on track is what you tell everyone else who supports you. All that matters is that we use this thing to hold ourselves (and each other) accountable to the healthy lifestyles we've committed to, right?
Here's to another day! See you at the gym!
I ate sooooo much today! I can't even log it all because I don't type that fast and I need to go to bed. I have recently decided to only eat 2 legged animals plus fish (mostly because of the global impact and my conscience) and no more candy! I will see you at the gym in the morning - hopefully on time! ;-)carrie
ReplyDeleteHi Deb:
ReplyDeleteI think I'm now on your blog. This is my first attempt at this blog game so hang in there with me.
There are a couple of discoveries from my recent entry into the fitness game.
1. Learn technique as soon as possible. Going it alone without expert coaching will invariably lead to injury and quick abandonment of the dream.
2. Doing it alone was not possible for me. My previous attempt at a local fitness center was disappointing. Training as a cohort was my salvation. It was obvious that the pretty ones on the treadmills and bicyles were more interested in the huge mirrors. It all seemed like a social event.
3. The concept and approach had to be clear to me and match my goals. I am not interested in becoming pretty...I want to live longer with improved health and performance. This body has provided me a great deal of pleasure and I want it to be around for some time.
4. I didn't realize, I was sort of suspicious however, that my eating habits were,if not disgusiting, at best that of a spoiled animal. I was introduced to the Paleo approach over the Xmas holidays and have embraced the concept. Lost 15 lbs and 2+ inches off the waist. Pants that have lingered in my closets for 15 years are now back in the game. This has been a huge shift in my outlook. It is a life changing event and I'm having a ball.
5. Thanks for your comments on workout sequencing and blending in it with a life. I think you advice about settling into 3 times a week is the route I'll take once I have mastered the various routines and appropriate technique.
6. Paleo works much better for me now that I have a freezer full of Omaha steaks, steak burgers, and chicken and fish from the whole foods store. I recently purchased one of those Geo Forman electric grills..a super way to prepare meals in a short time. I steam enough vegetables for a week or so, bag 'em and stuff into the freezer, too. However, I do cheat and enjoy sour bread toast with Goat butter, still inhale fresh squeezed OJ and of course now have a wide selection of nuts, peaches, avocados, mangos, tomatoes. Have eggs either soft boiled or over easy every morning. No cereals, pasta, junk food or anything processed.
feeling good...
ted
Ok...in the AM I had greek yogurt w/honey & white tea, lunch was grilled rye w/ham & cheese, almonds w/tangerine for snack and for dinner roasted lemon/oregano chicken with roasted veggies (sweet potatoes, onions, fingerlings, brussel sprouts & carrots)...
ReplyDeleteI always make a point to cook with different color foods, for at the least dinner time. Then I know I am getting alot of nutrients. The more variety of colors in the meal the better it is for you.
Anyway...
I really do enjoy the body blast/afterburn, it feels like a total workout.
Thanks!
